Definitely plan to see Time Regained. I do wonder why Proust chose the name Charlus and named Swann Charles. Two very similar names for two major characters.Oz Fritzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06061222169144560970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7361223727037711552.post-35547403539964669542020-08-30T06:43:31.947-07:002020-08-30T06:43:31.947-07:00Cleveland, I recommend the Finney movie also. Coming back to Proust I will be interested Oz in what you make of the character Charlus who is not so present in the first volume but dominates the final volume. He is the educated gentleman of the 19th century, early teens, but like St. Loup "missing, or hiding the interiors." Marcel always respects the Baron, knowing and trying to convey his inner gears. A good idea too is to see the Proust movie Time Regained which gives you the narrative and then permits picking up the volumes out of order or at random. The movie's final scene at Cabourg is one of the best ever. The book shines with its details of the moment overwhelming the plot and invites any random page opening to be a treasure.dharmahumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08566417176180887669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7361223727037711552.post-79642548265036930202020-08-27T10:30:20.375-07:002020-08-27T10:30:20.375-07:00I know Proust is one of those writers I need to tr...I know Proust is one of those writers I need to try; your blog post is a reminder. But I'm busy right now with Lowry's "Under the Volcano" and other books. A wonderful rabbit hole is Eric Karpeles who collected an outstanding book, Paintings in Proust and the wonderful story of Jozef Czapski. <br />dharmahumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08566417176180887669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7361223727037711552.post-29001421936486365852020-08-24T17:27:29.916-07:002020-08-24T17:27:29.916-07:00Terrific post.
